Founder and CSO Simon loves technology-related business problems. He has over 20 years of experience in high growth start-up environments working in Technical Architect, CIO, CTO and CEO roles in Europe and North America. Simon has also spent time in academia working as a Senior Scientist in Distributed Computing and has more than 20 cloud computing-related patents to his name.
Simon is passionate about delivering sustainable technology and is known for designing the world’s lowest powered Windows PC in 2008. He is also responsible for several low powered data centre designs and is the author of KumoWatt, a training programme for IT professionals interested in reducing the carbon impact of the systems they deploy and manage.
Simon has architected components of the technologies that many of us take for granted today, this includes VoIP, remote desktop protocols for remote working, and the hypervisors that power many corporate clouds.
Simon has been ranked in Silicon.com’s list of ‘Worldwide IT Agenda Setters’ and was commended as, “a champion of ‘green’ causes who speaks regularly on both computing and environmental issues, Ponsford stands apart as one of the individuals bringing green computing to life.”
